As an Authorised Wedding Celebrant, I can help you create something magic and memorable. It is your day and we can work together until you are completely satisfied that your wedding ceremony will fulfill your every desire.
There are so many options of rituals, prose, poetry and forma that wedding ceremonies can include. You may have very fixed ideas or none at all. If you are at a loss as to where to start, I can offer you lots of different ideas to get you thinking. You can involve people who are dear to you in the wedding ceremony. They can perform readings or dedicate special words of their own.
You may want a small and intimate event or you may intend to have a large celebration to accommodate all your family and friends. Sometimes location can be an inspiration. Wedding ceremonies Northern Beaches options include spectacular outdoor possibilities; beaches, parks, gardens or even on the water - or you may want a beautiful indoor setting. Wedding ceremonies come in a wonderfully wide variety of styles and formats. It’s important to work out what feels right to you.
Wedding ceremonies raise some legal considerations which you need to be aware of.
- Both parties will be required to complete an official form which is called a Notice of Intended Marriage. This form must be completed no earlier than 18 months and no later than 1 month and 1 day before the marriage ceremony. I hold copies of these forms and can assist you in completing it.
- You will need to supply proof of date of birth when completing this form. For all Australian citizens born in Australia, you will be required to supply your Birth Certificate. If you don’t have one, you can apply to the office of Births, Deaths and Marriages and for a small cost, they will supply this document to you.
- For Australian Citizens born outside Australia, a Citizenship document or passport is required to be sighted.
- For Permanent Residents, a birth certificate or passport is required. An expired, but not cancelled, passport is acceptable.
- People who have been married before must supply either a death certificate of their previous spouse or a Decree Absolute if divorced.
- An additional declaration which forms part of the Notice of Intended Marriage will be required to be completed just prior to the marriage. Once again, I will assist you in completing this.
- The minimum legal age to get married is 18 and in exceptional circumstances, a person who is at least 16 may be approved, and also providing the person intends to marry someone who is at least 18.
- Marriage between people in a prohibited relationship is not permitted. This includes brother/sister relationships, an ancestor or descendant, half-blood and adopted.
- Two witnesses over the age of 18 will be required to be present at the wedding and sign the Marriage Certificate.
